Jazz in the Park is Back!!! August 6th 5-10 pm at Central Park

After a two-year hiatus, Jazz in the Park makes its triumphant return to Forest Park. Every year thousands of jazz enthusiasts make their way to Forest Park on the first Saturday in August to hear some of the best jazz in the nation. And the tradition continues this year as we are incredibly excited to have Grammy Award Winner Nicholas Payton headlining the 2022 event. Nicholas is multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, producer, arranger, essayist, and social activist who defies musical and artistic categories. All the while, he honors the tradition of what he terms “postmodern New Orleans music,” as well as the spirit of Black American Music.

The grounds open at 5pm and we will have multiple food trucks serving everything from snacks and dinner to drinks and dessert. Cartridge Brewing will also be serving their world class beer. In additions, we will have a variety of vendors selling their products. Residents can begin tent space rentals on Wednesday, July 20th, 2022. Non-residents can begin tent space rentals Monday, July 25th at 8 am. Reservations can only be made Monday through Friday until 4:30 pm at our Municipal Building located at 1201 West Kemper Rd.

The openers for this year’s event are the Brandon Coleman Quartet and the Satin Smooth Project. The Brandon Coleman Quartet perform music that is intricate, personal, and cinematic, inspired by Brandon Coleman’s musical idols and his roots in the Appalachian Mountains. They have performed at jazz clubs across the country and numerous festivals including the Loja Jazz Festival and the Columbus Jazz and Rib Fest. The Satin Smooth Project is a smooth jazz, funk, and soul band. By featuring songs from contemporary artists as well as old school funk and R&B, they bring a sound unlike most acts you’ve heard and will leave you thoroughly entertained.

Jazz in the Park is rain or shine and the concert is FREE to the public. For additional information, visit forestpark.org or call 513-595-5200.
