Forest Park Fire Department
The Forest Park Fire Department was established in 1961 as a volunteer department with 24 members who contracted with the Village of Forest Park for fire service. The Department has grown and evolved to an organization which employs 23 full-time and 41 part-time personnel, staffing two stations 24 hours a day, 365 days a year covering seven square miles that encompass the City of Forest Park including residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
The Fire Department currently provides emergency service out of two fire stations. Responding from Station 42 (Headquarters) is a 107-foot Ferrara aerial, one pumper, two paramedic ambulances, and one support vehicle. Equipment on the ambulances includes cardiac monitors/defibrillators, advanced airway equipment, numerous types of medications, IV fluids as well as many other types of basic and advanced equipment. There are 6 firefighter/paramedic/EMTs and 1 captain assigned to Station 42.

During 2018, the Forest Park Fire Department responded to over 5,500 calls. Medical emergencies make up the bulk of our emergency responses. An emergency is defined as an unexpected, serious occurrence or situation urgently requiring prompt action. Not all illnesses or injuries require transport to a hospital by an ambulance. If you are unsure, it is better to call and have trained emergency personnel evaluate the ill or injured. Our goal is to provide the best care possible as quickly as we can to those citizens who request our help.
