Human Resources

The mission of the Human Resources Department is to provide effective human resource management by developing and implementing policies, programs and services which contribute to the attainment of City of Forest Park and employee goals by:

Properly balancing the needs of the employees and the needs of the City of Forest Park.

Ensuring a diverse workforce in a safe and discrimination/harassment free environment by: maintaining compliance with employment laws and government regulations; providing management and employee training; and developing policies and procedures.

Providing training and development in areas of: effective leadership and career development of employees; employment law and government regulation, and litigation avoidance.

Hiring the most qualified employees by pre-planning staffing needs, ensuring an effective internal interview process, identifying the best and most cost effective recruitment sources, and conducting thorough background and reference checks.

Retaining our valued employees by providing competitive wages and benefits; furnishing technical, interpersonal and career development training and coaching; conducting exit interviews and supplying relevant feedback to management; and enhancing two-way communication between employees and management.

The Human Resources Department is truly a service oriented operation. Created in July of 1990, this department is responsible for reducing costs and improving the efficiency of Forest Park's personnel and human resource services. The Director and his staff manage community services and employee relations.

Providing Recreation
In April of 1991, the City's first full-time Recreation Coordinator joined the staff of the Human Resources Department. The creation of this position was the first step toward the establishment of a year-round recreation program for Forest Park residents. Helping Residents
The Department reaches beyond the needs of City personnel and provides services directly to the citizens of Forest Park. By organizing special events and responding to individual requests for information or service, Human Resources strives to maintain and improve the quality of life for residents.
 
Serving Employees
Human Resources is responsible for a wide range of services including collective bargaining, health insurance, employee relations and employee recruitment. The department also acts as a liaison to the Civil Service Commission regarding personnel matters and communicates information on job opportunities with the City to the general public.
