City of Forest Park, Ohio

The Director of Finance and the Finance Department handle the receipt and investment of all monies due the City from taxes and other sources, as well as payment of all City expenses provided for by Council appropriations. The Department is responsible for the City's payroll, accounting, budgeting, investment and all income tax related issues.

 

Award Winning Staff
From 1989 through 2009, the Finance Department earned the prestigious Certificate of Achievement in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for the City's comprehensive annual financial report. The highest form of recognition from the Association, this certificate represents a significant achievement by our Finance Department and is indicative of the professionalism with which they carry out their responsibilities.

 

The Finance Department also receives the Distinguished Budget presentation Award.  The award has been received by the Deparrtment from 2007 through 2010.  To-quality budget documents are esstnial if citizens and others with an interest in a government's finances are to be fully aware and informed participants in the budget process.  Better budget documents contribute to better decision making and enhanced accountability.  Forest Park joined only 24 other Ohio jurisdications in receiving this recognition.

 

The Tax Commissioner and the Tax Office coordinate collection of the 1.5% earnings tax which covers wages, salaries, commissions, or any other compensation earned by residents, including rental property or any other business net profits.
