Economic Development
Forest Park is one of the few cities its size to have a separate department for this valuable function. Our award-winning development team facilitates economic growth by providing key services to businesses considering expansion or relocation. For example we provide assistance with site identification, project financing, incentive application, and permit approval. Investing in economic development makes dollars and sense. Since 1995, businesses have invested more than $300 million in our community. These projects have resulted in the retention or creation of more than 5,000 jobs.
Several years ago city leaders created the Forest Park Redevelopment Plan, a blueprint for the revitalization of underdeveloped, blighted or vacant commercial properties. Special incentives are available to medical, engineering, technology, financial services or advanced manufacturing companies that complete projects at targeted sites.
The staff also works to attract quality residential development consistent with the character of our community. In the Economic Development Department our primary concerns involve: Business Recruitment, Business Retention, Business Assistance, Business Recognition, and Welcoming Residents.
Welcoming ResidentsBusinesses large and small are made up of individual people who have their own needs. Workers with children may want to know where daycare facilities are located.
