Anyone employed or generating earnings within Forest Park is covered by this tax. The rate from January 1, 2007 to June 30, 2007 is 1% with 0.5% credit for tax paid to another municipality. Beginning July 1, 2007, the tax rate is 1.5% with a credit of 1.5% is given for taxes paid to another municipality. This earnings tax is the City's main source of income.
Annual tax returns are due from residents and businesses on or before April 15 of each year, or three and one half months following fiscal year-end. Payment of the prior year's balance and the first quarterly estimated payment are due at this time. Quarterly payments should be made on April 15, July 31, October 31 and January 31 for a year ending December 31. Interest and penalties may be applied for failure to make quarterly payments.
