| Solid Waste/Recycling Collection Program In August, 2008, the City of Forest Park approved contracts with Rumpke, Inc and the Greater Cincinnati Water Works. Rumpke won the bid to provide solid waste/recycling collection services for all City single and duel family households. The Greater Cincinnati Water Works was contracted to bill and collect the solid waste quarterly fees. The contract reduced quarterly solid waste fees while also reducing Rumpke's 96-gallon trash wastewheeler monthly rental fees, eliminating large item fees, and providing a larger recycling container for no extra cost. | ![]() |

Residents should remove all decorations, wires, lights, etc. Over the last 18 years, the City has chipped over 5100 trees. The mulch is used for park areas and planting beds. The 2011 Tree Recycling drop-off is scheduled from Saturday, January 1 to Sunday, January 9. |
| Community Recycling Programs Forest Park residents have several recycling opportunities available to them. Homeowners and renters have curbside recycling and residents living in apartment complexes have "mixed paper" drop-off dumpsters. Fourteen (14) locations have been developed. For additional community recycling information, visit our Recycling Opportunity webpage. |

|
| Citywide Yardsale This city wide event occurs the first Saturday in May; early registration usually begins mid-March. It is designed to focus on the first two of the 3 Rs - Reduce and Reuse - participants have the opportunity to "get rid of" unwanted materials while making a small profit, thus reusing older items while reducing the amount of materials immediately entering the landfill. Resident sale locations are registered and then promoted through newspaper ads, bulletin boards, city maps w/street locations, and through the internet. Over 100 homes annually participate. | |
|
| Appliance (with Freon) Recycling Throughout the summer months, residents can call our office to schedule an appliance pickup (must be on curb). Appliances are collected, drained and recycled by a contracted professional. For more information, please visit our Appliance (with Freon) Recycling web page. Each household is allowed two items per year at not charge. Additional items cost $50 each. |
|
| Used Tire Recycling Usually held in mid-September, Forest Park and Greenhills residents can bring their used tires to our designated site where they will be collected. All tires will be then recycled for civil engineering purposes or into playground cover. |
| | Recycling Bin Give-Away Curbside recycling bins are distributed throughout the year. Whether the Program Manager delivers a bin to one needy resident or Forest Park Environmental Awareness Board members volunteer to promote curbside recycling at local grocery stores, we want to make sure all needs are met. Recycling bins that are currently available at no additional cost: 18-gallon red recycling bin (pictured) and our newer 65-gallon recycling tote w/wheels and lid. Visit our "curbside acceptable material" webpage. |
| Recycling Rewards Program Five households were randomly chosen each month to see if they are participating in the City's curbside recycling program. If they are, they win $100 worth of valuable gift cards. In 2003 and 2004, over 100 lucky residents won and $10,000 worth of gift cards distributed. |
| . | Household Hazardous Material Collection Drives Sponsored by the Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District and hosted by the City of Forest Park, this event had been held every two or three years at the Winton Woods High School. Collection drives have now been replaced with permanent drop-off facilities. For more information about these facilities, their hours and the materials they accept, visit the Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District or call them directly at 946-7789. |
| Stormdrain Stenciling Co-sponsored with the Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District, volunteers walk through sections of the city stenciling stormdrains with the message, "Don't Dump Waste, Drains to Lake." The program emphasizes the importance of not disposing oil down stormdrains. |
|
| Computer/Electronic Recycling Drive Held in June, July or August, this program is sponsored by the Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District. Only residents and non-profit organizations can participate. To make it more convenient for our residents, we collect unwanted equipment and then transport it to the designated collection site. Materials are then refurbished and resold or recycled. |
| Mercury Thermometer Exchange Program This program was sponsored by the Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District and hosted by the City of Forest Park. Hamilton County residents were encouraged to bring their mercury "fever" thermometers to designated sites where they could exchange them, at no cost, for digital thermometers. The collected mercury was either reprocessed for industrial use or properly disposed of through environmental companies. |
