These are just a few of the events coordinated through the Recreation Department.  There are unique opportunities for adults, youth and families to participate in educational, physical and fun activities throughout the year.  The Recreation Department has a way for everyone to get involved in sport leagues, summer camps, senior activities, and a variety of ongoing programs and special events. Many of these programs rely on volunteers for assistance.  These dedicated individuals that serve on the Parks and Recreation Commission, as coaches and league administrators, special event coordinators and helping hands in our parks and programs take pride in their service.  They are the reason Forest Park can continue to offer these programs and continue to improve our parks.

 

News Alert: Instructors in myriad of activities needed on Recreation team

Do you have a talent you would like to share with your community? The Recreation Department is looking for people with various skills to teach classes at the department's 2 centers.

We are looking for anyone with any type of skill they might want to share with the community. Our plan is to add a lot of exciting activities at both facilities so we are hoping people will come forward to share their knowledge with others.  Day and evening instructors are needed to teach classes for seniors, adults, and children.

Examples of skills the department is looking for include aerobics, yoga, kickboxing, jazzercise, pilates, Zumba, and health and wellness education, to name a few. The department is also looking for instructors to teach arts and crafts type activities such as scrap booking,  photography, jewelry making, etc.

Are you interested in serving your community?  The Recreation Department hosts several special events throughout the year, which need your assistance to run smoothly.  These are great opportunities for individuals, church groups, civic organizations, etc. Here's a listing of some of our annual events:
